Questions
How much does it cost?
Nothing during the beta.
What do I need?
Google Chrome on a Windows, Mac or Linux computer, and a Google account to sign in. It doesn't run on phones.
Which eBay sites does it work on?
eBay UK, US, Ireland, Australia and Canada (ebay.co.uk, ebay.com, ebay.ie, ebay.com.au and ebay.ca).
Which grading companies?
ACE slabs today, checked for a crossing to PSA. More crossings are on the roadmap: ACE 8s and 9s that could still make a PSA 10, PSA slabs crossing to ACE, and Beckett (BGS) slabs.
Which cards?
Pokémon cards, in ACE slabs for now. It reads every ACE slab, and knows the cards whose borders need special care: VMAX (no top border), TAG TEAM and Pokémon-GX (layered borders), e-Reader cards (dot-code strips) and the RGB Mews (a narrow double frame).
How accurate is the centering?
It's measured on the grading company's own high-resolution images, typically to within a point or two of careful hand measurements. A close call says so, and you can check any card yourself in the Adjust editor, front and back.
Does it check the back?
Yes. Grading companies photograph the backs of their slabs (ACE does for every one), and CrossCheck measures the back's centering the same way as the front's. For a PSA 10, PSA allows up to 75/25 on the back, so the back rarely changes the verdict, but when it's badly off-centre the verdict says so. Japanese gold backs are measured to the middle of the gold fade. A few older back designs (the old Japanese "Pocket Monsters" back, for one) can't be measured yet, and then the front decides alone, as it does when there's no picture of the back.
Will a candidate actually cross over?
Not necessarily. A candidate is a slab with everything that can be checked in its favour: for an ACE slab going to PSA, four 10s from ACE and centering inside PSA's 10 range, front and back, with room for measuring error. The new grader grades the card in hand, including surface flaws no photo shows, so treat a candidate as a strong shortlist, not a promise.
Should I crack the slab or send it as it is?
That's your call. Many cross-graders crack, so the card is graded entirely on its own; others prefer a crossover that keeps the slab if the grade isn't reached. For cross-graders has the trade-offs.
Why a waiting list?
It's a young project and we want to grow it carefully. Join with Google, and sign in again here to see when you're in.
What does it collect?
Your Google email and name, and the listings you check, so the server can look the certs up and measure them. No ads, no tracking, nothing sold. The privacy policy has the details.
Is it connected with a grading company or eBay?
No. CrossCheck TCG is an independent tool, connected with no grading company (ACE, PSA, Beckett or any other) or eBay. It reads grading companies' public cert pages and images, and eBay listings you open.
