PSA slabs

Open an eBay listing of a PSA slab. SBM Labs TCG measures PSA's own scans of the card, front and back, and puts PSA's grade against what the centering allows by PSA's rules today.

The panel opens on the right. Measuring a slab for the first time takes up to a minute.

PSA's grade against the centering

The box at the top compares the two:

  • PSA 10 · centering backs it: the centering fits PSA's limits for a 10.
  • … backs it, just: it fits, but only just.
  • PSA 10 · centering says PSA 9: by PSA's published limits today, the centering only allows a 9. It may have been graded more kindly, or under older rules.

Below that: the card as PSA describes it, PSA's label, Centering allows for every company, and each side's centering with its picture.

Badges you may see

  • Check lines: another set of lines fitted almost as well. Worth a look at the picture.
  • Uneven: worst end: a border is thicker at one end, so it's measured at the worst end, as graders do.

PSA didn't scan every older slab. Then SBM Labs TCG measures the seller's photos instead and says so. Photos are less exact than scans, so it gives them a little more room.
